- The Big Ice: The rink in Sochi will be the international standard of 200ft by 100ft, which is 3,000 square feet bigger than the NHL rink. With many NHL players playing a huge role in the olympic hockey teams, it will be interesting to see how this may affect their game.
Bolshoy Ice Dome - Expensive Olympics: These Olympics will beat the record for most expensive games hosted. The Olympics this year are estimated to have cost 51 BILLION.
- Women's Ski Jumping: After numerous petitions and debates, the Olympics will finally include a women's ski jump (rather than just mens ski jump). These women are more than deserving to finally compete in the olympics, plus this sport is bad ass (it's pretty much like flying in the air with skis on).
Atsuko Tanaka - More Sports Making Their Olympic Debut: In addition to Women's Ski Jump, Mens and Womens Ski Halfpipe, Biathlon Mixed Relay, Team Figure Skating, and Luge Team Relay will all be debuting for the first time in Olympic history.
A group of people dancing coordinated on the ice? Count me in! - Olympic Torch Relay: The Olympic Torch will travel the longest route a torch has ever travelled by the time it reaches Sochi. 40,000km to be exact, with around 14,000 torch bearers overall!
